Seditious Lauren Boebert?

Lauren Boebert has had quite a tumultuous first couple weeks in office. She has taken DC by storm and Democrats as well as Capitol police do not know what to do with her. The freshman Congresswoman from Colorado has managed to make both look silly. Bravo.

The wacko nutjob has hit the ground running and is likely responsible for sedition conspiracy. It seems to be that within a week of being sworn in, Lauren has committed treason against the government of the United States- and she is getting away with it. She helped incite the deadly violence that occurred on January 6th and live tweeted that Speaker Pelosi had been removed from the chambers during the siege at the Capitol. Not a big deal? Lawmakers were told not to disclose their locations for safety concerns. Earlier that day she alluded to the American revolution by tweeting “Today is 1776” and mysteriously and tellingly claimed that she was representing her constituents-extremist rioters hell bent on overthrowing democracy- who were in a crowd outside the Capitol.

Her behavior is clearly not befitting that of a responsible American. Unfortunately, many congresspeople are not responsible people. Now, despite many calls for her resignations and scathing critiques from Colorado newspapers, defiant Lauren continues is predictably brushing it all off and using the classic Republican trick of playing victim and accusing others of attempting to silence her. To be sure, Lauren, and anyone else for that matter, has a right to free speech. But she does not have the right to endanger the lives of other government officials, including the Speaker of the House, by live tweeting the location of someone the mob had expressed clear interest in eliminating.

Where did she get the temerity to do such an unpatriotic act? You must remember she was elected on a crazy far right platform. However, this platform was also supported by many in mainstream society. Team owners-and their spouses- from the San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks each donated the maximum $2,800 contributions to the QAnon candidate. donated to her. It is clear that Boebert is delivering for her base and she will only up the ante from here. Do not expect her to help pass COVID-19 relief for residents of Colorado’s 3rd district.

I also believe that she had the gall to be so brazen because she knows Democrats are weak and there is a good chance that she would simply get a slap on the wrist, if anything at all. We have known her actions for several days and there is still no major furor. This type of treachery cannot be normalized and if Dems continue to be such doormats, they will lose even more respect from many people. If Boebert gets away with this, it would partly be due to the incompetence, neglect, and stupidity of Democrats. She should be expelled and even charged. The charge should be treason.

Not even a week after being sworn in, she has managed to violate her oath, throw her weight around congress, and yes, making a name for herself. After the insurrection of January 6th, members entering the Capitol have been mandated to go through a metal detector. But clearly GOP members do not follow rules. The hypocrite “law and order” candidate was one the members who completely refused to be subjugated to the rules and would not let her bag be searched after it set off a metal detector. These are the same white supremacists whose response to police violence towards regular Americans is “Had they complied they wouldn’t have been shot.” Well, some Republicans in Congress do not comply; they even shove so called law enforcement out of the way and they make it back home in one piece. It is just selective treatment or are Capitol police just glorified security guards who don’t enforce rules?

Democrats cannot let this go. It sends the wrong message and further emboldens far right members like Boebert looking to galvanize and win political points from Trump’s base. The seditious Congresswoman ought to be investigated and brought up on treason charges and face the consequences of treason. What are the odds that Dems will be on board with that? At the very least an attempt at expulsion should be made but such an unpatriotic act cannot go ignored.
